Planning and Inspiration for Lingerie Sewing Projects

Image
I know I am not alone in looking forward to the new year. This week's video discusses some of the fun projects I am planning!

Burda 6590 Sewing up one of my favorite, fast patterns!

Image
I have made this pattern so many times! It is flattering and fast. My go-to when I want a new little top. This is a project you can make in one sitting but will be your favorite new top! I have some cute new designs in my TeeSpring shop too! Check it out!

Make a Basic Christmas Tree Skirt

Image
I threw this tree skirt together with what I had on hand already. This was a make-do project but that can be our secret. Close up of the trim application. The lining side of the skirt.

McCalls 7262 Drapey Sweater

Image
If you are looking for a great multi-season jacket this may be the one! This sweater can be buttoned up for a cowl neck. Left open it drapes in a flattering way. I really like this pattern! Watch at the end to see how I made some changes to the finishes that elevated the look! PS. It is a fast sew too! After wearing this a few times I decided it needed a little revision. The end of the video has that plus buttons and buttonholes.

Mitered Corner Napkins

Image
Napkins are a favorite handmade item I love to make for gifts. Doing a mitered corner elevates the look and quality.

McCalls 7408 - Sew with Me

Image
This week's project has lots of nice details and interesting sewing applications. I show the steps up close to help you get the best results. The placket and hem finishes create a lovely garment inside and out!

Drawstring Gift Bags

Image
This week's video is a quick tutorial on making drawstring gift bags! These bags are a great way to use up scraps or personalize a present. Get a jump on the holidays and make some this weekend.

Simplicity 8452 - One Hour, One Yard, Vintage Style Top

Image
Check out my review before you make this project, especially if you are plus size. I don't hate it but... It definitely isn't meant to a fuller figure. Make the shirt I am wearing in the video!

Fall Pillows - Two Ways and Applique

Image
Time to get some fall decor projects! These slipcovers could just be pillows too. I like slipcovers because I can change them out and they are easy to store.  (Timestamps in the Youtube description)

McCalls 7682 - Shirtwaist Dress

Image
I L💗VE this dress! It has been a while since I have made a project with lots of little details. The collar, button placket, drawstring sleeves and waist, and the hi-ow skirt; this dress has it all. It is flattering and so easy to wear. Did I mention that I love this pattern? Timestamps in the description on YouTube hi-lo skirt

Vogue 1665 ~ One Hour Top - with simple alterations

Image
I love an interesting design. A little detail that makes a garment special. This pattern has it! Bonus points for it being a super quick and easy project. I made two tops this time, both from the same pattern. The black and gold one I have worn many times already. It just looks great and effortless to wear. I am sure as the temps drop the blue one will be a favorite too. It is just too warm to wear yet. Simplicity 9012 Easy Breezy Dress

Image
Let's make a transitional dress (or top)! Simplicity 9012 is a loosely fitted raglan sleeve pattern with an elastic neck and sleeve at the elbow. It is soft, flowy, and easy to wear. I made the view A dress with the View B sleeve. This is another easy project but the interesting details make it look designer! I made the belt and I show it on, but I won't likely be wearing it. I think I look like a sack of potatoes tied in the middle, to quote my grandmother. :) Timestamps in the Youtube description   This is another fast and easy project, but it doesn't look like it.  Sewing With Stacy Facebook Page YouTube Channel

Burda 6345 ~ One Day Sew ~ Knit Tunic

Image
Ready for another great fast project this week? This took only a few hours from cutting to hem. Do you have a directional or striped knit and have been waiting for the perfect pattern? This may be it! Make sure to check out the pattern prep and cutting layout if you are a new sewist. It was easy but could be confusing to some from the pattern info. There are timestamps in the Youtube description.

Simplicity 5555 Jiffy Wrap and Tie Halter

Image
Are you ready for another one day project? This adorable vintage top took only 2 hours! (If you are a beginner sewist expect it to take longer.)   I show how to add a lining for better coverage.  Pattern: Simplicity 5555 Fabric: Polyester jersey knit from JoAnn Fabrics Machine: Bernina 770QE

New Look 6511 ~ Sew with Me

Image
This week's project was a one day sew!  This pattern is quick and easy and so cute on!  I made view C. The neckline and armscye are finished in bias. I deviated from the pattern (no surprise) by adding 5.5 inches to the hem, and by making it in knit instead of a woven.  I also added a pocket and only did the bias in the neckline. Because the fabric is knit, I was able to simply turn under the seam allowance and topstitch the underarm.  I've pretty much been living in this dress since the day I made it.  Highly recommend.

Pillows and More ~ Sew with Me

Image
This week I update some of the decorative elements in my bedroom. I make pillows and a lampshade! The fabrics are from JoAnn and Fabric.com. The trim on the pillow is from Trims By The Yard . The trim on the lampshade is from Hobby Lobby.

Vogue R10569 ~ Bias Cut Dress ~ Sew With Me

Image
Let's sew up another great pattern this week! This one is fashion-forward and still a quick and easy project. Don't worry about fitting with this soft, drapey, body-skimming dress. It is a dream to wear. Pro Tip: Do not hang bias garments. They will stretch and grow, and the hem will become uneven. Note: I shortened the hem by 4 inches. Pattern: Vogue R10569 (Tom and Linda Platt) Fabric: https://www.fabric.com/buy/0537773/telio-colorado-crepe-de-chine-grid-black-white Sewing Machine: Bernina 770QEE Overlock: Bernette 334D If you click through to YouTube, there are timestamps in the description. Thank you for sewing with me!
