Patternmaking Kit (half-scale) - let's get ready to make patterns!

Image
Hello pattern makers!  Let's get our pattern-making kit together. First, you need a set of slopers. A sloper is a set of basic patterns without ease and no seam allowance. There are sets for sale online but you can get a copy free here from Iowa State University.  It will automatically download a Printable PDF. Click here to get a printable copy of the half-scale slopers. Once you print them off it is best to copy them to posterboard or tagboard.  You can glue the printed sheet down or trace it off. Whichever you prefer. This is important to help keep the integrity of the pattern as you trace it over and over. Watch below to see how I prepared mine and what supplies I prefer. List of supplies: Clear grid ruler Hip Curve  3 colors of pencils or makers Tape dispenser with clear tape Pattern paper, like architects tracing, exam table paper, or tissue paper Slopers Tape Measure get the Ruler set here get the Fashion drawing templates here

Mini Dress Form Makeover

Meet my half-scale dress form! She gets a long-needed makeover in this week's video. She needs a name to go with her new look. Please leave a comment with a name suggestion.  You can look forward to some patternmaking videos in the future. I am planning a series of tutorials on flat pattern design and draping.  Get ready to level up your sewing game!

Draft a Pattern from a T-shirt

Image
I have been looking for a good raglan sleeve T-shirt pattern and haven't found one yet so I am going to draft my own using a shirt I already have as a template. This is a very simple way to copy a readymade garment that you like and want to make again. If you like my videos, please consider subscribing to my Youtube channel and liking the videos. It is the only way others looking for "learn to sew" videos will find me. 🧵
