Get The Most Out of Your YL Deoderant

Image
Here is a little trick I do to get the most out of my YL deodorant.  First of all, I love their deodorant, both scents. I always have a little bit left in the container. Just a tad. But I want to use it all! I pull out the insert with the leftovers in it. Then I pry out all the deodorant into a glass measuring cup. I forgot to take a pic of the pieces before I melted them down. Over a double boiler melt the pieces down.  I personally like to add a few drops of lemongrass. It is fresh and bright. Then put the insert back into one of the empty tubes and roll it down so there is plenty of room to pour in the mixture.  It sets up quickly!  Roll it up to close to the top before it completely sets and let it set up for a few hours.  That's it! Now I have weeks more of deo to use!  Do not mix the deodorant of other people together! Make sure you wipe away any lint etc. before you melt it down. Get...

Let's talk makeup and skin care.

Let's start by saying I am no beauty guru and I am coming from the perspective of someone closer to 50 than 20.   Our beauty routine can be one of the most toxic things we do to ourselves! Sadly, many of the products meant to help keep us looking young and vibrant are actually working against us. That is why I LOVE Young Living and all their wonderful products!  This lovely box was a little gift for myself. I ordered it during the Balck Friday - Cyber Monday specials. It is the Savvy Minerals Holiday Collection #21952.   The packaging is so nice! I didn't even realize how wonderful the items would be.  This is my makeup box. I don't wear makeup every day, but I like options. This one opens up and has my creams, deodorant etc. down underneath.  This is the new Rocking lip color that came with my holiday kit. It isn't available for a single purchase yet.  Look at that light up lid! What I am weari...

Testing DIY Cleaning Recipes - Foaming Pods

Image
I always say how much I love a DIY! It's true!  Today I tested some recipes for foaming pods to use in the toilet and dishwasher.   (Scroll to the bottom for my cleaning results and cost breakdown if you want to know how well they worked before trying the recipe.) The first recipe is for the toilet pods.  Recipe:  1 cup baking soda 1/4 cup citric acid (I got mine at Amazon) 1 cap of Thieves Household Cleaner (THC) 1 tiny squirt of Thieves dish liquid Mix the baking soda and citric acid first.  Then very slowly add the Thieves cleaner. I mean slow! If you dump it in you will fizz up your mixture and it won't work. You may get a bit of fizz when drizzling but it will be minor. Once the cap is empty squirt a tiny amount of dish soap. This helps binds. It will look dry and crumbly but hold together when pressed. Then I pressed them into a silicone mold I have used for bath bombs. An ice tray would work, but the flexib...

DIY Personal Powder

Image
French vintage advert "Keep Smiling" I love to DIY personal products!  I make my own lotions, creams, bug spray, lip balm, soaps, and on and on and on... When I had my first child over 19 years ago our pediatrician told me not to use baby powder on my child. He said they can easily breathe it in and it isn't good for their system. Use cornstarch or another natural product our bodies can break down.  Well, it was great advice then and is still is. I have been playing with my dusting powder recipe lately. For years I have just used corn starch.  I have to use a power of some kind, my skin is sensitive and I easily rash (TMI).  I tried adding a tad of baking soda to make it more absorbent and odor fighting. Let me say it was a  big mistake. First, it was grainy and not smooth. Even with just a tsp of baking soda to a cup of cornstarch. Second, my skin hated it, it was irritating for me.  So here is what I have landed on....
