Simplicity 9110 ~ Working to get the right fit and look

Image
Pants can be hard to get a good fit and plus-size can be even more difficult.  This week I sew up Simplicity 9110, a cropped pant with patch pockets. This is a fast and attractive pattern, BUT it wasn't flattering for my figure. So, take a little journey with me as I work out a good look along with a good fit.  The video has the complete tutorial to make them according to the pattern, plus pattern alterations before and after sewing!

Simplicity 9012 Easy Breezy Dress

Image
Let's make a transitional dress (or top)! Simplicity 9012 is a loosely fitted raglan sleeve pattern with an elastic neck and sleeve at the elbow. It is soft, flowy, and easy to wear. I made the view A dress with the View B sleeve. This is another easy project but the interesting details make it look designer! I made the belt and I show it on, but I won't likely be wearing it. I think I look like a sack of potatoes tied in the middle, to quote my grandmother. :) Timestamps in the Youtube description   This is another fast and easy project, but it doesn't look like it.  Sewing With Stacy Facebook Page YouTube Channel

Vogue R10569 ~ Bias Cut Dress ~ Sew With Me

Image
Let's sew up another great pattern this week! This one is fashion-forward and still a quick and easy project. Don't worry about fitting with this soft, drapey, body-skimming dress. It is a dream to wear. Pro Tip: Do not hang bias garments. They will stretch and grow, and the hem will become uneven. Note: I shortened the hem by 4 inches. I have been looking for a good raglan sleeve T-shirt pattern and haven't found one yet so I am going to draft my own using a shirt I already have as a template. A Little Bit of Everything!

Thift Haul ~ A sewing (related) vlog/blog

Image
A quick review of a day of thrifting. I spent just over $100 USD on this haul. The purpose of most of the items is to recycle them into a fabric collage or art quilt. It is a collaborative project I am working on with a friend. I was happy to find a few pieces for myself, my hubby and one of my daughters. Here is a better view of the little black statement dress.  It is so fun to thrift with a buddy! We helped each other cull through all the great finds and not overbuy.  Look for future posts on our adventure into the fabric collage realm. It is a learn as we go project for both of us. Let's Fix Those Shallow Pockets on Ladies Pants

Image
I know I am not alone in noticing how skimpy pockets are in ladies clothing. I was comparing my jean pockets to my husbands and it was pretty annoying.  His pockets went midway down his thigh where mine were finished just below the pocket opening. That is less than two inches deep!   Any other ladies have their phone fall our of their front pocket just by bending over? I use my pockets and they need to be practical.  In today's video, I add an extension to my jean pockets and get deep pockets!  Check out my other sewing related videos on the playlist Sewing and Such  If you like my video please consider clicking "like" and "subscribe."
