A Guide to Moisturizers and Lotions from Young Living

Image
Young Living has a moisturizer or lotion for every occasion and skin type!  If you are like me I need lots of help in the winter months to combat the dry cold air's effect on my skin. Let's start at the top or face.   For those who need light coverage, or have oily skin the ART light moisturizer will fit the bill. It is a great one to put on before applying makeup too. This little serum can be applied directly to your face, or added to your favorite moisturizer. You will notice how soft your face feels it will not make you oily! just  balance out the dryness. The Wolfberry Eye cream is a small and mighty wonder! Apply to soothe the appearance of tired eyes and reduce the appearance of fine lines. For those of us with more mature skin, this is a must-have!    It contains frankincense and goes a long way. My first little pot of this lasted about 6 months and I used it on my neck too. ART ...

I Went to a YL Beauty School, and You Should Too!

Image
I was so fortunate to have a YL Beauty School where I live! I couldn't let this opportunity pass.  The tables had some of the products we would use for a little spa pampering. On registration night, we got to pick out our lovely boxes and pick up all the great products that would go in them. This is the box I chose.  The Beauty Book! It is like a beauty school how-to. This is my product bundle before I opened it. Oh, the suspense! There are different products each time. My box all kitted out! See that full-size Art Renewal Serum? One of my most favorite products. I was so happy!  There are samples of Sheerlume, toner, sandalwood creme, a multitasker from the Savvy Minerals line along with a misting spray... SO MUCH GOODNESS!  Did I mention we got a free lipstick from the new tangerine infused line? It looked great on everyone! Plus, two essential oils! Every beauty school is a little different, so if you go again you will ...

Neroli, Your Skin's Best Friend

Image
I try to order a new product every month. This is my new oil of January.  I am loving it! Neroli is steam distilled from the bitter orange plant. It has been used for skin care and perfume for hundreds of years.  The scent is light and lovely. I bought it to support my aging skin but it has many other uses too including emotional support. It can be applied directly to the area you want to support. I like to use it in my skin serum recipe. (This is similar to Debra's Drops of Gold recipe. You can find the recipe at the bottom of the page. I modified it to the oils I have and you can too.) Right now I don't have Rose or 3 Wise Men, so I used the neroli and myrrh; about 10 drops each.  A few other oils that are great for your skin are Elemi (Franks less expensive cousin), Bergamot, and Ylang Ylang.  Use the serum nightly on your freshly cleansed skin, then apply any other moisturizers, if needed, once it has soaked in. ...

Green Tea Face Masks Or Sheet Masks Take Two

Image
Here is a mask my college-age daughter has been making. She has sensitive, blemish-prone skin and lots of allergies. We have seen her skin improve and brighten with this mask she created. Ingredients:  a bag of green tea fresh aloe vera  jojoba oil Young Living Essential Beauty Serum Empty the Contents of the tea bag into a bowl and add 4 tablespoons hot water. Next, add about 2 tsp of jojoba oil and stir in. Cut the Aloe into pieces to clean out the gel and juice. Don't throw away the skins of the Aloe! You will need them in a bit.  Drop in 1-2 drops of the  Beauty Serum and stir it all together.    Soak the mask in your mixture Let it sit for a few minutes. It should cool down before you put it on your face.  She makes her mask, showers then applies the mask to her warm clean skin.  Before applying, she rubs the aloe skins on her face then applies the mask.  She ...

DIY Sheet Masks

Image
Sheet masks are everywhere in every price range. I have found they can be an amazing addition to a beauty routine.  The best one I have ever used is this one. It is the ART Beauty Masque from Young Living. My skin looked amazing after using it. The mask (masque) is actually quite large and you can trim off the excess and apply it to your neck!  So why make your own when there are so many available? Price and targeted support! Why would you want to use a sheet mask? They are easy, not too messy, can be done at home, and really do nourish your skin if you choose the right ingredients!  Here is how it works. Buy dry, plain sheet masks. The ones in the picture are from Diaso. They can be ordered from Amazon for $6.45 for a dozen. I think I paid about half that at the store. These masks feel like fabric and are made of cotton. Start with a clean face. I seldom use a foundation and my favorite way to clean my face at the end of the day is...
