Thieves Toothpaste makes the best deodorant!

Image
If you are like me you have been trying lots of toxin-free personal products. I have even tried making my own pit paste and stick deodorant. For a few years I have been using Young Living Deodorant and I like it! They have two scents, both are nice.  They are safe products that even children can use without worry. (if you have kids you know some need deo early 😳) A friend mentioned that she was traveling and forgot her deodorant  so she used her Thieves Aromabrite toothpaste as pit paste. She raved about how well it worked and she now only uses it. So I decided to do a little experiment of my own and try it out.  My conclusion after a week of only using toothpaste for deodorant, I am a convert! Here is what I found. It only takes a tiny pea size, I have NO body odor even after 24 hours. I don't have to re-apply (this may change in the heat of summer). It feels smooth, not sticky, dries fast, and doesn't stain my clothes.  It is a winner!...

Thieves Fruit and Veggie Soak (another use)

Image
This month (March 2019) Young Living is blessing us with all things Thieves for our promotional items. I love this so much! If you look back at past blogs I have lots of DIYs that include the Thieves cleaner and dish soap.  But what about that big container of veggie soak? I love and I use it. It does last a long time if the only thing you are doing is washing produce with it. BUT, it is great made into a spray and to use for spot cleaning just like your Thieves spray. It does have some different ingredients (from the thieves spray) like Digize and Purification oils. These make it a great option to use in areas where you need to squash odor along with any crud left on the surface. Here is how I make up a spray with the Veggie soak for using on my cutting boards or counters. especially after cutting onions or garlic!   Regular use for the soak is two tablespoons per 1 gallon of water. It doesn't take much. So in a small purse sized spray bottle it...

Caregiver Planning and Complicated Medicine Schedules

Image
I have been the caregiver for a child with a rare condition for over  13 years. Recently, I spent some time caregiving for my mom after major surgery. Both of these experiences have made me aware of how important it is to have a medical plan whether you are the caregiver or the one needing some help. In the case of temporary caregiving. My mom had printed out all of her medications and gathered them together so we could help with dosing during recovery. Post surgery, she was unable to help with when she took what med, and what they were for. I did have the release papers from the hospital and found they were less helpful than I had hoped. In the end, we made a chart for her maintenance medications and supplements and a separate one for the post-op meds. It took some time researching what the meds were for, if any had interactions with the post-op meds, and if they had to be taken separately. I included the time of day to take, amou...

Why You Should be Diffusing at Night

Image
Friends, there is hardly ever a time not to diffuse!  Here are some good reasons to add diffusing to your nighttime routine. 1. The humidity will help your breathing, especially in the winter when the heater is running. Add one drop each of peppermint, lavender, and lemon, or try RC, Raven, or one of the eucalyptus oils to get the full benefit. 2.  Adding certain essentials oil will help you relax and sleep more soundly. Here are a few  suggestions: lavender, valerian, Stress Away, Peace and Calming 3.  Boost your immunity while you sleep. Thieves  is  my personal go-to for immunity support I sometimes add orange just because it smells great while still doing all good stuff.  Frankincense is a good on its own or with Thieves. 4.   Do you need any more reasons? Just kidding! DREAMS- really. Some essential oils may help you in this area are Dream Catcher and sandalwood. 5. Do-over. sometimes I need an emotional reset at the end...

Beauty Hack - Making Tinted Moisturizer

Image
I have hardly ever worn foundation as an adult. It didn't matter what I chose it sat on my skin looking like a mask or crept into every little line and wrinkle emphasizing what I wanted to downplay.  Dry skin didn't make the issue any better. Plus I have sensitive skin and most makeup would make my skin burn and rash.  I have been a lipstick and mascara girl forever out of necessity. I owned way more skin care products than makeup.   WELL! Then Savvy Minerals happened.  I had no bad reactions at all. Give me all the makeup! This was so exciting. I do still have dry skin however and powder makeup on dry skin needs lots of moisture. Here is my hack. Take your favorite YL moisturizer and sprinkle in Savvy Minerals Foundation.  I am currently using Sandalwood Moisturizer and Cool #1 foundation.  If you need a bit more coverage once you have applied the moisturizer you can layer more of the powder.

No Nest To Call My Own... YET

Image
Our house in Oklahoma is now occupied by a new family. We have been staying with our family for six days now. Eight more days of being a transient to go! We are so thankful that the time between houses was shortened by a week and we are now closing five days earlier.  Here is what we are doing during this time of floating. 3 days of packing and loading I prepared for the packers by grouping items together in the rooms I wanted them associated with. I put all my diffusers together in the kitchen (except the one I packed to go with us on our travels). This way I could find them easily on the other end.    We are so blessed to have professionals do almost all of the work.  It took two days of boxing and one for loading then a few hours of cleaning and we turned the house over for closing.  Choosing what to keep with us Essential oils, supplements, and medication need to stay at room temperature so they are bei...

Staging Life

Image
Our house has been on the market for just over a week now, we have had a nice, constant stream of showings.  I spend most of my time cleaning between showings, driving the dog around and searching for homes online.   Since we have a 70-pound Airedale, we have to load her up in the car when a realtor and clients come.  She now hears our car keys and runs to the door expecting a car ride.  I keep fresh flowers in the house. The diffusers are pumping out a light fresh clean scent of lime, peppermint, and basil. Whenever possible I bake cookies and leave them out for the family looking at our house.  Fingers crossed as we move forward on this new adventure!

Inexpensive Pampering DIY's

Image
Let's talk about Epsom salt. This simple inexpensive product is so underrated!  Epsom salt will give you a good magnesium boost and is great to soothe tired muscles and relax before bed. My son often soaks in an Epsom salt bath when he has a bad headache. Studies show magnesium is vital to our health . Here is a great article explaining some of the benefits.  Medical News Today: Magnesium.   I love to do at home pedicures. I use a cheap plastic foot tub. Start by c overing the bottom with Epsom salt.  Next, add a few drops of essential oils to the top of the salt before I drop in the water.  Choose oils that will support you at that moment. If you need to relax, try lavender or peace and calming. Feeling a little under the weather add thieves oil. Need some respiratory support, add eucalyptus and peppermint. This time I used Tea Tree, Sclaressence, and Clary sage. They smell great, and I need their particular kids of support this night. ...
