Let's Fix Those Shallow Pockets on Ladies Pants

Image
I know I am not alone in noticing how skimpy pockets are in ladies clothing. I was comparing my jean pockets to my husbands and it was pretty annoying.  His pockets went midway down his thigh where mine were finished just below the pocket opening. That is less than two inches deep!   Any other ladies have their phone fall our of their front pocket just by bending over? I use my pockets and they need to be practical.  In today's video, I add an extension to my jean pockets and get deep pockets!  Check out my other sewing related videos on the playlist Sewing and Such  If you like my video please consider clicking "like" and "subscribe." YouTube has changed their algorithm and it is the only way others may eventually find my videos. :)

Diffuser Blends for Blah Days

Image
We are stuck in the cycle of cold overcast days followed by warm windy days. It makes it hard to choose what to wear and everyone is complaining about their sinuses.  I have been choosing blends that are bright and zippy and feel like spring. Blend # 1 is 2 drops each of Peppermint, Lemongrass, and Rosemary.  This is bright and cheerful smelling to me. I love Lemongrass and it is great on its own or in combination with many other oils like citrus. Orange is another favorite. I use so much I order it nearly every month.  Blend #2 combine 4 drops of orange with 2 drops of peppermint. Spearmint is zippy all on its own. Blend # 3 is 4 drops Orange and 2 drops Spearmint Peppermint happens to be great sinus support and is good for sleepy mornings to help get you moving.

Green Tea Face Masks Or Sheet Masks Take Two

Image
Here is a mask my college-age daughter has been making. She has sensitive, blemish-prone skin and lots of allergies. We have seen her skin improve and brighten with this mask she created. Ingredients:  a bag of green tea fresh aloe vera  jojoba oil Young Living Essential Beauty Serum Empty the Contents of the tea bag into a bowl and add 4 tablespoons hot water. Next, add about 2 tsp of jojoba oil and stir in. Cut the Aloe into pieces to clean out the gel and juice. Don't throw away the skins of the Aloe! You will need them in a bit.  Drop in 1-2 drops of the  Beauty Serum and stir it all together.    Soak the mask in your mixture Let it sit for a few minutes. It should cool down before you put it on your face.  She makes her mask, showers then applies the mask to her warm clean skin.  Before applying, she rubs the aloe skins on her face then applies the mask.  She ...

Let's talk makeup and skin care.

Image
Let's start by saying I am no beauty guru and I am coming from the perspective of someone closer to 50 than 20.   Our beauty routine can be one of the most toxic things we do to ourselves! Sadly, many of the products meant to help keep us looking young and vibrant are actually working against us. That is why I LOVE Young Living and all their wonderful products!  This lovely box was a little gift for myself. I ordered it during the Balck Friday - Cyber Monday specials. It is the Savvy Minerals Holiday Collection #21952.   The packaging is so nice! I didn't even realize how wonderful the items would be.  This is my makeup box. I don't wear makeup every day, but I like options. This one opens up and has my creams, deodorant etc. down underneath.  This is the new Rocking lip color that came with my holiday kit. It isn't available for a single purchase yet.  Look at that light up lid! What I am weari...

Raindrop Roller

Image
Most of us who have been with Young Living know the amazing benefits of the Raindrop Technique for overall wellness and immune system support.  There is great training available to learn the technique and many videos too.  But in a pinch, this roller is a great item to have in your oily toolkit to keep your family above the wellness line.  Since we have one child with a rare disease who cannot have over the counter meds, this is our only defense. When anyone starts to dip down into illness. This roller comes out. We roll it down our spine and on the bottoms of our feet. I repeat at least 3 times a day. Usually, it only takes a day or two to be back into wellness!

Christmas Spirit

Image
I know it is pumpkin spice season, but as soon as the first blush of autumn is in the air I am all about Christmas Spirit. This lovely blend has orange, cinnamon and black spruce in it.  I love it so much that I made a room spray out of it.  Want to make your own? The directions are here →  Room Spray   Just use Christmas Spirit instead of Purification.                             It is literally in all of my diffusers right now.  I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. - Charles Dickens

Essential Oil Spotlight - Oregano

Image
This amazing powerhouse oil does a lot!  If you are in need of a wellness boost this is it. For the month of September, this is one of the free promo oils at the 100 PV level!  The body systems oregano supports are the respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, mental, and metabolic. It is also good for joints. Because it is considered a "hot" oil, always dilute before applying to your skin, unless it is on the bottom of your feet.  This happens to be one of the many oils that can be found in the aromatic and vitality lines. Try adding this to your spaghetti sauce! Remeber this isn't an extract it is concentrated. A tiny dip of a toothpick may be all it takes. Want to know more about cooking with the vitality line of essential oils Click here . Oregano is one of the oils used in the Raindrop Method. It can also be found in Ortho Sport Massage Oil.  I make a Raindrop Roller for my family and keep it ready. Especially with a child w...

Essential Oils on the Go

Image
My teen son recently went to two different week-long camps.  He is the reason we started the oily journey so he definitely takes oils with him. This year I sent small sample bottles with the basics that everyone needs and his main oils in full-size bottles. I found these little boxes in the school supply section at Wal-Mart for a dollar. They are perfect for a small kit and the hard box protects the bottles. My son carried it in his backpack with him. It is a great purse, or diaper bag size too. I like to travel with my oils in a padded zipper bag.  This is the one I use the most. I made it and have more like it in my Etsy Shop, Robbins Nest Studio . You can click the tab to visit my shop. I have also used a train case if taking lots of oils for a class out of town or visiting family for a while.  It is hard sided and can hold a lot of oils along with empty capsules, carrier oils and more. I got...

Canning Pickles and Garden Update

Image
Homemade pickles! I grew up on them and love canning my own. Here are my jars in their water bath, the lids and rings are in there too. Simmering is perfect. Cucumbers and dill from my garden  plus garlic, salt and mustard seed. I poured the water out of the simmering jars and stuffed it with the ingredients. Each jar contains 1 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp mustard seed, a head of dill weed, 1-2 tsp diced garlic.  Next, I pour the brine in. My brine is equal parts hot water and vinegar. Some like plain white vinegar others cider vinegar. You should try a few options. Mark what you put in the jar so you know what is your favorite. Leave a little air space in the neck of the jar and cap with a lid and ring. Set your filled jars back in the simmering (low boiling) water for 10 minutes. Remove and let sit undisturbed for 12-24 hours. You should hear the lids seal during this time. It will be a very satisfying pop sound.  My finis...
