Neroli, Your Skin's Best Friend

Image
I try to order a new product every month. This is my new oil of January.  I am loving it! Neroli is steam distilled from the bitter orange plant. It has been used for skin care and perfume for hundreds of years.  The scent is light and lovely. I bought it to support my aging skin but it has many other uses too including emotional support. It can be applied directly to the area you want to support. I like to use it in my skin serum recipe. (This is similar to Debra's Drops of Gold recipe. You can find the recipe at the bottom of the page. I modified it to the oils I have and you can too.) Right now I don't have Rose or 3 Wise Men, so I used the neroli and myrrh; about 10 drops each.  A few other oils that are great for your skin are Elemi (Franks less expensive cousin), Bergamot, and Ylang Ylang.  Use the serum nightly on your freshly cleansed skin, then apply any other moisturizers, if needed, once it has soaked in. ...

Let's talk makeup and skin care.

Let's start by saying I am no beauty guru and I am coming from the perspective of someone closer to 50 than 20.   Our beauty routine can be one of the most toxic things we do to ourselves! Sadly, many of the products meant to help keep us looking young and vibrant are actually working against us. That is why I LOVE Young Living and all their wonderful products!  This lovely box was a little gift for myself. I ordered it during the Balck Friday - Cyber Monday specials. It is the Savvy Minerals Holiday Collection #21952.   The packaging is so nice! I didn't even realize how wonderful the items would be.  This is my makeup box. I don't wear makeup every day, but I like options. This one opens up and has my creams, deodorant etc. down underneath.  This is the new Rocking lip color that came with my holiday kit. It isn't available for a single purchase yet.  Look at that light up lid! What I am weari...

Party Time! Skin Care and Makeup

Image
My oily mentor and I had a class about the skin care and Savvy Minerals make-up from Young Living. What a blast! This picture shows the items I began pulling from around my house for the class and the work sheets I made. There is a sheet for all the makeup items, one for all the skin care, and a half sheet that has a face for the makeup samples. These sheets are like a wish list. Each person can mark the items we talked about that fits their needs or mark the makeup colors that they liked.  Flowers. I always have flowers.  Notice The seedlings wipes two pictures up? That is my favorite makeup remover. I made sure to talk about that too. One person used it to remove their makeup at the end of class just to see how well it works. They were passed around so everyone could sniff and see how sturdy they are. I cut mine in half and put them in this cute container.  Half is all I need to get all my makeup off.  I tried to keep the theme thr...

Make Your Own Vitamin C Serum

Image
Have you heard how wonderful Vitamin C serum is for fine lines, discoloration, and boosting collagen? I am hitting that certain age where fighting the onset of aging in my skin is vital.  I don't wear much make-up, but I have invested in all kinds of skin care products in my life. In The past two years, I have had a major shift in my approach to all the products I ingest or apply to my body. I like to make my own products! I have always been a DIY-er.  The best part is having control of what goes into it, and it saves so much money!  WARNING! If you have sensitive skin this can cause redness and burning. After all, vitamin C is citric acid. I used an empty essential oil bottle. Using a dark bottle is important to keep the sunlight from affecting the serum. Also, the Citric acid has a short shelf life once it is mixed with any liquid. So a  small batch is best. It is so easy you won't mind making it every week or two. Combine: 1 tsp Vegetable Glyce...
