McCalls 7323 - Another favorite pattern!

Image
I love this pattern for a t-shirt with a little something extra. It fits great and is simple to make. A good one for sewists of any level! Change it up by using coordinating fabrics or a stripe that gets matched at the front seam.  👆  Check out my TeeSpring shop! 👆 I have mugs too

Burda 6426 ~ Classic Linen Button-Down Shirt (from sheets)

Image
The gorgeous linen used in this week's project is upcycled from a pair of sheets! The fabric was lovely to work with. This Burda pattern is a classic button-down with a traditional collar. Check out those shell buttons too! Sew with me and make a practical and classic shirt.

Simplicity 9110 ~ Working to get the right fit and look

Image
Pants can be hard to get a good fit and plus-size can be even more difficult.  This week I sew up Simplicity 9110, a cropped pant with patch pockets. This is a fast and attractive pattern, BUT it wasn't flattering for my figure. So, take a little journey with me as I work out a good look along with a good fit.  The video has the complete tutorial to make them according to the pattern, plus pattern alterations before and after sewing!

Upcycle T-shirts into Dresses

Image
I have lots of t-shirts that fit fine but aren't long enough. They are perfect for this kind of project. I even show how to use the leftover t-shirt fabric to make a pocket!  Check out my first go at this project here where I make a children's version. Kwik Sew 4256 ~ I Made Ring Fit Pants!

Image
Don't laugh, I love playing Ring Fit Adventure. I struggle with the leg strap staying in place though. Even if you aren't working out with a video game this pattern is a keeper. It has a cute style, quick to sew and I show you how to add pockets. Before you cut it out watch my review. I found an error in mine that was easy to fix (if you haven't cut it out yet). Kwik Sew 2589 ~ Bias Cut Camisole

Image
A simple camisole is a staple foundation garment. It can be worn under other tops, sweaters, with a jacket, or as part of a pajama set. This pattern includes a slip, cami, and shorts and comes with all sizes in the envelope. This is a great beginner project that doesn't require much fabric and no fasteners!   Last week I made the pants in this pattern. This week we make the top! This is a good beginner pattern with a mod style. It gives me Star Trek vibes. I give a full review at the end of the video. There are timestamps in the video if you click through to watch on YouTube.

Simplicity 9017- Pants

Image
Simple and fashionable is just my style! This Simplicity pattern is a great beginner pattern but looks interesting and current.  This week I make the pants, next week the top. I added a little pocket for my phone too, because pants without pockets... Nope.

Kwik Sew 3881 - This is the one!

Image
I have been looking for a current pattern that is close to the vintage one I love. This is it! The View  A is almost exactly like my pattern from the 1950s. If you are wanting to make some vintage styles this pattern will get you there!  It comes with 4 styles in one envelope: brief, bikini, hipster, and thong all available in all sizes.  This year I am planning to do a lingerie/sleepwear type project as the first project of each month! I have added a lingerie/sleepwear playlis t on my youtube channel. . Timestamps available if you click through to YouTube If you are enjoying my videos please consider subscribing on Youtube! Make a Basic Christmas Tree Skirt

Image
I threw this tree skirt together with what I had on hand already. This was a make-do project but that can be our secret. Close up of the trim application. The lining side of the skirt.

McCalls 7262 Drapey Sweater

Image
If you are looking for a great multi-season jacket this may be the one! This sweater can be buttoned up for a cowl neck. Left open it drapes in a flattering way. I really like this pattern! Watch at the end to see how I made some changes to the finishes that elevated the look! PS. It is a fast sew too! After wearing this a few times I decided it needed a little revision. The end of the video has that plus buttons and buttonholes.

Mitered Corner Napkins

Image
Napkins are a favorite handmade item I love to make for gifts. Doing a mitered corner elevates the look and quality.

Time to get some fall decor projects! These slipcovers could just be pillows too. I like slipcovers because I can change them out and they are easy to store.  (Timestamps in the Youtube description)

McCalls 7682 - Shirtwaist Dress

Image
I L💗VE this dress! It has been a while since I have made a project with lots of little details. The collar, button placket, drawstring sleeves and waist, and the hi-ow skirt; this dress has it all. It is flattering and so easy to wear. Did I mention that I love this pattern? Timestamps in the description on YouTube hi-lo skirt

Vogue 1665 ~ One Hour Top - with simple alterations

Image
I love an interesting design. A little detail that makes a garment special. This pattern has it! Bonus points for it being a super quick and easy project. I made two tops this time, both from the same pattern. The black and gold one I have worn many times already. It just looks great and effortless to wear. I am sure as the temps drop the blue one will be a favorite too. It is just too warm to wear yet.
