Pants can be hard to get a good fit and plus-size can be even more difficult.  This week I sew up Simplicity 9110, a cropped pant with patch pockets. This is a fast and attractive pattern, BUT it wasn't flattering for my figure. So, take a little journey with me as I work out a good look along with a good fit.  The video has the complete tutorial to make them according to the pattern, plus pattern alterations before and after sewing!  

  First of all, the sound at the beginning of the video is a mess. It does get better! I was so disappointed because I did a soundcheck and it was fine. :( Hang on past the overview and it is much better!  This adorable pattern is a great one for a new sewist. It only took a few hours to cut out and sew. This is a project you can make in the morning and wear in the afternoon! Close up of the lovely border print. I have been looking for a current pattern that is close to the vintage one I love. This is it! The View  A is almost exactly like my pattern from the 1950s. If you are wanting to make some vintage styles this pattern will get you there!  It comes with 4 styles in one envelope: brief, bikini, hipster, and thong all available in all sizes.  This year I am planning to do a lingerie/sleepwear type project as the first project of each month! This little peasant top is another great beginner pattern. For an experienced sewist, this is an hour project. I ended up cutting down the neckline elastic 7 inches from the patterns recommended size. ✂ Please note: I added two inches in length to this pattern. Last time I showed you the basics of applique, this week we sew it all together!  The project is a flannel baby dress and bloomers with ladybug applique. The bloomers will be the next video!
