Peppermint Bark Pretzles

Image
We made these sweet treats to give away this year.  Ingredients: Almond bark, mini pretzels, crushed peppermint candy, and 1-2 drops Vitality Peppermint oil from Young Living. If you want to know more about cooking with essential oils click here! I started with half the package of almond bark broken into chunks in my 2 cup pyrex measuring cup. Set the measuring cup into a small pot of water on the stove on low-medium heat (double boiler). Stir occasionally. Once fully melted remove the measuring cup from the water. Now is the time to drop just one to two drops of your Young Living Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil in.  Drop in a few pretzels at a time to coat. My favorite tool for dipping pretzels is a stainless steel chopstick! Lay the coated pretzels on parchment paper and sprinkle with the crushed peppermint candy.  Once cool, I packaged them in cellophane cones and tied with a cute curling ribbon. These were sim...

Basil Vitality - Cooking With Essential Oils

Image
Right now I am using Basil Vitality in many of my dishes and I thought I would share a few with you! Appetizer: This is my take on the classic tomato salad. I used fresh mozzarella and Roma tomatoes sliced and layered.  Put about 2 tsp Himalayan sea salt in a glass dish and drop one drop basil into it. Mix it well and sprinkle over the top of the prepared tomato and mozzarella. I didn't use all my salt and you may not either.  Then add cracked pepper and a bit of dried parsley. To finish, a good balsamic vinegar drizzle is nice.   Main Dish: This is a bruschetta pizza! I had a small French bread that I halved lengthwise. In a glass or metal bowl mix 1 Tbsp olive oil with a dash of salt, pepper and a drop of basil vitality  Lightly brush the cut side of the french bread with olive oil mixture Dice 3 to 4 Roma tomatoes and 1 green onion finely and add to the bowl that had the olive oil ...

Lemongrass - Essential Oil Spotlight

Image
Lemongrass is a very popular herb that can be found growing natively in Asia, Africa, and Australia. It has been used for cooking and medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. This is one of my favorite essential oils! It is has a sweet lemon smell and has so many uses. The main way I use it is in my diffuser. I usually combine it with peppermint or spearmint for a bright fresh scent. It is very uplifting, the scent actually makes me happy! It is a great addition to the laundry routine on your wool dryer balls. Or use to make a room mist. Click here to see my purification spray recipe . You can use any of your favorite oils to make your own room spray. Lemongrass Vitality can be added to your tea or water. A little drop goes a long way in recipes. I have used Lemongrass with a carrier oil for underarm deodorant with great success. It can sting a bit on sensitive areas so try with a carrier oil first!  Use it with a carrier oil after ...

Essential Oil Spotlight - Oregano

Image
This amazing powerhouse oil does a lot!  If you are in need of a wellness boost this is it. For the month of September, this is one of the free promo oils at the 100 PV level!  The body systems oregano supports are the respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, mental, and metabolic. It is also good for joints. Because it is considered a "hot" oil, always dilute before applying to your skin, unless it is on the bottom of your feet.  This happens to be one of the many oils that can be found in the aromatic and vitality lines. Try adding this to your spaghetti sauce! Remeber this isn't an extract it is concentrated. A tiny dip of a toothpick may be all it takes. Want to know more about cooking with the vitality line of essential oils Click here . Oregano is one of the oils used in the Raindrop Method. It can also be found in Ortho Sport Massage Oil.  I make a Raindrop Roller for my family and keep it ready. Especially with a child w...

Cooking with Vitality Essential Oils

Image
Many essential oils are plants we eat already. So it isn't surprising to use them in our cooking. There are a few things to take into consideration first. Is it a pure oil with no additives of any kind? Does the company source its oils in a way that can guarantee there were no pesticides or other toxins introduced during the process of making the oil? Essential oils are extremely concentrated. One drop of oil can compare to gallons of the plant in taste and impact. True essential oils break down in heat. The easiest way to introduce oils into your diet is water. All the citrus oils, as well as peppermint, taste great in water. I know many add a drop of peppermint to their coffee or tea as well. Experiment!  The tried and true trick is the toothpick swirl for introducing oils into dishes like dips, salad dressings and so on. Just dip a toothpick tip in the oil and swirl in the food item you are creating. Like lemon into cream cheese for a cheesecake....

Simple Essential Oil Class Set Up

Image
I had a few friends over to talk oils! This wasn't a typical class or party but I still did a little prep work besides the research on oils I always do.  This is my dining table. At one end I set up little cups with a cotton ball and a drop of oil for a little guessing game. I provided slips to fill out and pens. If I have a large gathering I will do a little prize for the one who gets the most right.  In the center are the oils we will be discussing that night. I was having just a few ladies so I kept it informal and we sat around the table and talked. When I have a big gathering I set up  in the living area with more of a display. The nice thing about us all around the table is they can easily pick up and smell the oils and it prompts questions.   I always use oils that are everyday plants. This week I used geranium, basil, oregano, dill, peppermint, orange, and lavender.  Snack are important too. I usually do a fruit and cheese board, wit...
