Curveball - Big Changes & New Stages

Image
I am a 47-year-old woman with 2 grown children in college and one half-way through high school. My husband is about 10 years from retirement. We are in the settled down and settled in stage of life.  I have ministries I love and a rewarding part-time job where I feel like I make a difference. I would say content pretty well sums up life for us. Well, things are about to change and change fast! This summer began with a fast trip to move the college kids out of the dorm and home for a short 2 months, before settling them in their apartment back at school. One college daughter didn't even come home but left immediately for a 2 week trip to the east coast with one of her classes.  Now we are prepping our home of 6 years in a community we have lived in for over 17 years to move to a new state! How did this happen? I have lived in the state of Oklahoma for 41 years! Can I tell you God began preparing our hearts last year? It is amazing how he does things. I would say a...

Back to School Essentials

Image
Both of my daughters are back at college and my son in high school. I was just thinking about how we don't get sick much at all anymore. I know it is a combination of better diet, the right supplements, and essential oils.  Here are suggestions for some back to school support for the youngest student up to the teachers! For everyone:  For the littlest learners: Athletes, dancers, marching band and more: Study Buddies: Immune Support (or perfect attendance):  College bound: Everyday oils collection to give them all the basics A diffuser to keep their room smelling yummy and the air clean Satin facial scrub, we all know they have skin Mutligreens to balance cafeteria food, you aren't there to make them eat their veggies anymore Teachers and students: Here is to starting well and staying well! An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the ...

Home Education Hope

Image
This is not a "how-to" post. It is a "you can do it" post. I am not an educational expert. I am a mom who managed to home-educate my three children.  And no one died! I'm not done yet. Two are in college and one is in high school (at home).  This home education thing is still a work in progress. Tailored to each child.  Disclaimer: Home education is not for everyone. There are plenty of families who shouldn't homeschool, and plenty who simply can't or don't want to. I am thankful for public education, and two of my children are planning on working in some capacity in the public education arena. I will say the beginning was daunting. My husband would say "if they fail, it's on you." I would think if they succeed it's on me too. :) He did support me, and they didn't fail. I did though. Quite a bit. There were times the kids succeeded in spite of me. I was an all in mom/teacher. The kids didn't need that though. I r...

Setting up my new sewing space!

Image
My two daughters both moved out of state to attend college this August. This is how I have been consoling myself for the last month. That is my hubby has done much of the work and I have chosen all the fun colors and furniture. :)  The room before we started.  New paint makes it cheery and bright! It is Tiffany blue.  Sewing corner! I put this on the wall with the door so when you look into the room you don't see the sewing mess if there is one. ;)  I have had this sewing unit for many years and it works perfectly for me. It can fold away  into a sideboard. New ironing board cover because everything has to match. I put the ironing board at chair height so I can just swivel and press. Saves my back too! The ironing board and iron have a hanger in the closet for when I am not using them.  I LOVE this desk shelf unit. The shelf can rotate to make a corner or L-shaped space. My hubby found the chair for me and changed the casters to ...

Taking Inventory

Image
It is the end of the year and time to take inventory. I'm doing this literally and figuratively for the next few days. Not because it's the end of the year (though that works too), but because I have some free time and can really focus on it!  First step is some easy stuff. Oil Inventory - I get loads of free oils and supplements from Young Living. I am working on a spread sheet of my excess so I can order efficiently .  This will also help when a friend calls and asks if I have an extra oil they are desperate for.  Oils in use.                                                              My extras!                                                      ...
