Life Update (part 1) The General Stuff.

Where to begin? So much has changed in less than a year. Here is what has happened since moving to Kansas in September of 2018. 1. I am no longer teaching sewing in the classroom. (insert tears here) I still hope to teach again. I love it and miss it. A few attempts at video tutorials have been made. I am still figuring it all out. The editing software has made it very frustrating and I need to get the videos more polished. You can see what I have been working on here:  Sewing and Such 2. Some of my time has been spent staying with my parents and helping my sister out in the country. I have always done this, but there have been some surgeries, etc in the last few months.  I can't explain how being in this particular place with my family recharges me.  Stunning sunset at the ranch. 3. As always with moving we had to set up new doctors and dentists. But having a child with a rare disease makes changing doctors an event. We have been traveling from Oklaho...

Nesting for the Robbins

We have been in Kansas full time since Sept 10! It's been a journey. Our first day and night in our new house was on air mattresses with one diffuser going.  Our sweet Peaches stayed in a doggy hotel during our transition and was so happy to have her family back. We missed her so much! No furniture but lots to explore! This was my second time to be surprised on this staircase by this crazy kid. The first time he was hiding in the storage bench under the window and rose out like Bela Lugosi in Mummy. Furniture day was crazy! I am so thankful for the moving guys who carried all our stuff up and down the stairs all day! WOW! They were super friendly and nice too.  This kid put all his furniture together and helped so much!  The first week my hubby was traveling and I decided to get as much done as I could. Did I mention we have stairs? Lots of stairs.  I was getting way over 20000 steps a day. I felt like I had run tw...

No Nest To Call My Own... YET

Our house in Oklahoma is now occupied by a new family. We have been staying with our family for six days now. Eight more days of being a transient to go! We are so thankful that the time between houses was shortened by a week and we are now closing five days earlier.  Here is what we are doing during this time of floating. 3 days of packing and loading I prepared for the packers by grouping items together in the rooms I wanted them associated with. I put all my diffusers together in the kitchen (except the one I packed to go with us on our travels). This way I could find them easily on the other end.    We are so blessed to have professionals do almost all of the work.  It took two days of boxing and one for loading then a few hours of cleaning and we turned the house over for closing.  Choosing what to keep with us Essential oils, supplements, and medication need to stay at room temperature so they are bei...

When Your Hamster Wheel Turns into a Rollercoster

Image
When you are bopping along with a nice routine and a full life, the hamster wheel, and suddenly it comes loose and you careen out of your comfy newspaper lined cage onto the floor and the dog starts chasing you. That's life. It is for everyone once-in-a-while.  We are running our little legs off with something looming right behind us. A deadline, a decision, even wonderful things like weddings are stressful.  In these moments I realize I'm not all that together. The cracks really show. I  see where I am weakest and somehow am surprised. Sure, I am strong in the love everyone department, but the stay motivated after many disappointments and setbacks area of me was pretty wimpy.  Honestly, no one can do it all. We need to give ourselves some grace, dump the pride, ask for help. Preaching to myself... After three weeks of house hunting and seeing over 40 homes, losing one in a bidding war, we may finally have a place to land when this reloca...
