Upcycle A Button-Down Into An Off The Shoulder

Image
Do you have an hour to sew and some old button-downs that need a new life? That's today's project! It works best if the shirts are oversized. I show a sleeve variation too! Happy sewing!   This is the shirt on my lovely daughter!

Burda 6426 ~ Classic Linen Button-Down Shirt (from sheets)

Image
The gorgeous linen used in this week's project is upcycled from a pair of sheets! The fabric was lovely to work with. This Burda pattern is a classic button-down with a traditional collar. Check out those shell buttons too! Sew with me and make a practical and classic shirt.

Two Totes from Scraps ~ Sew with me!

Image
This week's video is a true sew-along.  I make two totes using up large scraps. The bags are made to make the best use of the fabric pieces I had. The first bag is the smaller one. It uses about half a yard of fabric. and is lined. The second bag is larger unlined and used about a yard of fabric total or half a yard of two fabrics.  Bonus at the end where I show how to make a false bottom or plastic inserts for stability.  In this week's video, you really get to see how I design and work.  Supplies needed: woven fabric, interfacing, thread   My TeeSpring Shop Sewing With Stacy Facebook Community   Make a matching zipper bag Sewing Machine: Bernina 770QE Overlock/Serger: Bernina L890

Upcycle T-shirts into Dresses

Image
I have lots of t-shirts that fit fine but aren't long enough. They are perfect for this kind of project. I even show how to use the leftover t-shirt fabric to make a pocket!  Check out my first go at this project here where I make a children's version. Thift Haul ~ A sewing (related) vlog/blog

Image
A quick review of a day of thrifting. I spent just over $100 USD on this haul. The purpose of most of the items is to recycle them into a fabric collage or art quilt. It is a collaborative project I am working on with a friend. I was happy to find a few pieces for myself, my hubby and one of my daughters. Here is a better view of the little black statement dress.  It is so fun to thrift with a buddy! We helped each other cull through all the great finds and not overbuy.  Look for future posts on our adventure into the fabric collage realm. It is a learn as we go project for both of us.
