This week's video is a true sew-along.  I make two totes using up large scraps. The bags are made to make the best use of the fabric pieces I had. The first bag is the smaller one. It uses about half a yard of fabric. and is lined. I have been looking for a current pattern that is close to the vintage one I love. This is it! The View  A is almost exactly like my pattern from the 1950s. If you are wanting to make some vintage styles this pattern will get you there!  It comes with 4 styles in one envelope: brief, bikini, hipster, and thong all available in all sizes.  This year I am planning to do a lingerie/sleepwear type project as the first project of each month! I have made this pattern so many times! It is flattering and fast. My go-to when I want a new little top. This is a project you can make in one sitting but will be your favorite new top! I have some cute new designs in my TeeSpring shop too! Check it out!  

If you are looking for a great multi-season jacket this may be the one! This sweater can be buttoned up for a cowl neck. Left open it drapes in a flattering way. I really like this pattern! Watch at the end to see how I made some changes to the finishes that elevated the look! PS. It is a fast sew too! After wearing this a few times I decided it needed a little revision. The end of the video has that plus buttons and buttonholes.   

This week's video is a quick tutorial on making drawstring gift bags! These bags are a great way to use up scraps or personalize a present. Get a jump on the holidays and make some this weekend.   

I love an interesting design. A little detail that makes a garment special. This pattern has it! Bonus points for it being a super quick and easy project. I made two tops this time, both from the same pattern. The black and gold one I have worn many times already. It just looks great and effortless to wear. I am sure as the temps drop the blue one will be a favorite too. It is just too warm to wear yet.   Ready for another great fast project this week? This took only a few hours from cutting to hem. Do you have a directional or striped knit and have been waiting for the perfect pattern? This may be it! Make sure to check out the pattern prep and cutting layout if you are a new sewist. It was easy but could be confusing to some from the pattern info. Let's sew up another great pattern this week! This one is fashion-forward and still a quick and easy project. Don't worry about fitting with this soft, drapey, body-skimming dress. It is a dream to wear. Pro Tip: Do not hang bias garments. They will stretch and grow, and the hem will become uneven. Note: I shortened the hem by 4 inches. I need to tell you that I really like this pattern. The sleeve variations are adorable!   I used the View A sleeve and the View B hemline. This is a comfy, soft, easy to wear dress. Especially since I underlined it. It feels amazing on. A few things I didn't realize until I was well into construction was: 1. The neckline has a yoke, not a facing. 2. The hem I chose is faced. These were actually better options, but I would have cut my yoke more carefully, lining up the fabric design better, if I had realized. This was totally my fault for not investigating it. The video has timestamps in the YouTube description if you click through to watch. One thing I will change if I do this pattern again is to cut the top portion of the dress in a smaller size. This little peasant top is another great beginner pattern. For an experienced sewist, this is an hour project. I ended up cutting down the neckline elastic 7 inches from the patterns recommended size. ✂ Please note: I added two inches in length to this pattern. This superfast easy bolster ended giving me problems and I share my mistakes with you. I have been looking for a good raglan sleeve T-shirt pattern and haven't found one yet so I am going to draft my own using a shirt I already have as a template.
