You Have More Control Than You Know
disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. I am sharing personal experiences that have helped my family and I hope will help others.
Autoimmunity is becoming nearly epidemic. Our own bodies are declaring civil war. It can be genetics, lifestyle, or a complete mystery as to why someone ends up with an autoimmune diagnosis.
At our house, I and my son both have an autoimmune disorder. Mine is inherited, it is Hoshimotos Thyroiditis. It is treatable and not too hard to live with for me. Click here to read my post on how I help my own body find balance again with natural supplements.
My son's is not inherited. It is a rare condition called Parry Romberg Syndrome (PRS). From the outside, he looks like any other teen boy. On the inside, he has scarring, leaking vessels, nerves that have been attacked and never stop sending pain signals (Trigeminal Neuralgia, or TN). His condition is harder to treat. We see many specialists.
There is much out of our control with our conditions, but there are things we can control! I have found this to be very unpopular when speaking to others with major health issues. Even when their doctors tell them it will make a drastic improvement. It is our diet!
This is my grocery cart. We are really striving to cut the processed, inflammatory food from our lives. This is still a process. we have been working on this for years!
Here is what I have noticed. When we don't eat highly processed foods, cut down the bad fats, and eat 80% plant-based many of the symptoms are less. I personally really struggle with two things, cheese and Diet Coke. Diet Coke being the really bad one. It isn't easy to give up things you used to reward yourself with. I am the only one? Food has always been a reward for me. My whole mindset had to change.
Here is what we bought for our family for this week for $113.00. apples, bananas, zucchini, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, green onion, avocados, fresh herbs (my garden isn't in yet), colorful bell peppers, squash, pistachios, dried fruit, dried beans, lentils, rice, a brick of cheese, light sour cream, eggs, tilapia, Triscuits, Daves bread, saltines, a few salad mixes, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
Things that are always in our kitchen, walnuts, almonds, oatmeal, hummus, canned beans for quick meals, frozen veggies, olive oil, quinoa, rice, chia seeds, vegetable broth, corn tortilla chips, and some type of trail mix.
I'm a weight watchers girl too. I can tell you it is easy to stay on track when you eat mostly plant-based.
Now here is where I don't do as well as my son, exercise. However, if he works out his pain and other symptoms are much less. The natural endorphins kick in and boom he is feeling much better. It elevates mood too! He skateboards, lifts weights, rides his bike, and even does yoga with his sisters.
In addition, to we take magnesium, and vitamin D supplements. From Young Living we take daily: Super B, Sulfurzyme, Ningxia Red, Mindwise, Omegagize, and Life 9.
The daily oils we use are Copaiba, Stress Away, Mgrain, Cedarwood, Motivation, Common Sense, Peppermint, and Brainpower. Because my son's brain is under attack by his condition we do EVERYTHING we can to protect it!
If you only started with adding in Ningxia Red daily, the difference in how you feel would be noticeable in just a few days. Get your own Young Living account for the best quality supplements here. YOUNG LIVING
Next week we will talk about the second thing you can control for a healthier you, your household products.
