Taking Inventory

Image
It is the end of the year and time to take inventory. I'm doing this literally and figuratively for the next few days. Not because it's the end of the year (though that works too), but because I have some free time and can really focus on it!  First step is some easy stuff. Oil Inventory - I get loads of free oils and supplements from Young Living. I am working on a spread sheet of my excess so I can order efficiently .  This will also help when a friend calls and asks if I have an extra oil they are desperate for.  Oils in use.                                                              My extras!                                                      ...

It is time for all the busyness to slow,  to fix our hearts on  Yeshua,  to let the Prince of Peace reign, adore Him who is, and who was, and who is to come.

Purification spray to keep the odors away!

Image
I made Purification spray today! It is just the right thing for sneakers, teen boy rooms, refreshing throw pillows, stale rooms and so much more! Here is how to make your own. Put 1 tsp baking soda in your bottle then fill nearly full with hot water from the tap. Put on the top and shake to dissolve the baking soda. Open back up and put in 10-20 drops of purification and shake again. My bottle was 4 oz so 15 drops was just right. I have made other room sprays with this same technique and different oils. Here is where I got my great bottles! Blue Spray Bottle

Lessons From A Live Nativity

Image
A few days ago my son, along with many of his friends in our church youth group, volunteered at a retirement center. The center was having a grand holiday party with a beautiful buffet, family visiting, horse drawn carriage rides, and photos with Santa. The youth volunteers all got costumes of some kind and little jobs. Some were elves greeting, working at the carriage ride, or helping Mr. and Mrs. Clause, there was a tall snowman, and a handful were going to be a lovely live nativity at the entrance.  My son was given shepherd robes, a giant candy cane that had been wrapped in brown paper to make it a crook, a few directions, and a chair covered in burlap on a bed of hay.  These were the directions, "sit still and adore Jesus." :) It made me laugh!   Of course as soon as we left the house to do this little chore he got a horrible headache  in the car , so I gave him all his essential oils, over the counter meds and (don...

Making a sharing bag for MLM

Image
I admit I'm a bit of a purse snob. I love leather purses. Good ones.  I saw how successful a sharing bag was for promoting essential oils. So I set out looking for something that I liked but still had a clear pocket to carry the oils and maybe another for a promotional page, or business cards. I didn't find much.  My biggest hang up was most bags were completely clear. I really don't want all the contents of my purse visible!  This is my solution for now.  This bag came from Amazon I also ordered a large black purse organizer to keep things like my wallet, and feminine products hidden.  (Please excuse the messy house in the background, and look and the lovely poinsettias my hubby got me.) this is the front with 15 ml bottles in the pocket side pocket with my business cards interior with purse organizer  back before promo info    Here are a few ideas for promo info for the back of th...

My Version of the Aroma Lift Massage

Image
Be Kind. I know I am not a super model. I simply don't know of a better way to explain the massage than to show you.  So here it is.  What's the big deal? For me it is an overall smooth youthful appearance. I'm less puffy and my skin seems brighter and tighter. But the biggest thing I have noticed is how it helps with the stiffness I would feel in the back of my neck and along my clavicle. When I feel congested or the beginning of a sinus headache this really helps too!  More info below the video. Remember be gentle! We want to reduce fine lines and heavy handed pulling will be counterproductive. :)  I'm using the Aroma Life blend from Young Living.  I put it in a little roller bottle to make it easier to apply.  This is a great blend to use for any lymphatic massage you may want to try. I have used it to support my lymph system when I had some swelling in my ankles too! Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), marjoram (Origanum majorana)...

Super Supplements!

Image
We have been on a journey to wellness for some years now. It isn't  a quick fix but a lifetime of effort!  These are supplements we use nearly every day in our house.                   Supplements used by the Headache Kid : When my son had a serious reaction to his pain medication ( the first one that actually helped ) we decided to all we could naturally to improve his life. I have written in the past about changing our family diet and seeing great improvement. This is part 2 of that effort. The first thing we did was add MSM. I already had Sulfurzyme which had been beneficial for my own health. He takes one capsule 3 times a day. Some days he takes more if he is really struggling with inflammation.  I had read so many articles about omega 3 and brain health. Then found out boys often need more omega 3 as well. It has to do with testosterone not being a fat carrier and estrogen is.  Here is one...

Make your own Foaming Face Wash

Image
This soap is natural, and can be easily modified for your skin type. It is also very inexpensive! I bought an inexpensive foaming soap dispenser, but you could just reuse and empty one. Fill it 3/4 full with water. I chose to use two castile soaps together in my recipe. They are both wonderful for the skin and smell great.  These are Dr. Woods Black Soap, and Dr. Bonners Hemp Rose Soap.  I added enough to fill the container but leave some room for the dispenser to fit in without over flowing. For my dispenser it was about 6 oz of water and 1.5 oz of soap.   A rule of thumb is 5 to one water to soap in a foaming dispenser.  You can see it got cloudy once the soap was in. If you do the water then the soap it doesn't over flow with suds! Now you add the oils of your choice. I added 15 drops of orange oil.  The soap will settle a little so shake it up before using.  If you have acne prone skin use tea tree, or Purification blend ...

My Favorite Fluffy Face Formula

Image
I quit buying face cream a year ago. I never spent much on make up but I did invest in all kinds of anti-wrinkle, stop aging type creams.   Once I began paying attention to what was in those products I decided to make my own. I am still using the same jar nearly 11 months later and its 1/3 full. Over the year I have saved hundreds of dollars from using my little cream. Here is the basic recipe.   There are so many essential oils that are good for our skin. Some I didn't include are bergamot, clary sage, lavender, and sandalwood.  Carrier oil options are abundant! I only listed a few of the easiest to access.

My favorite little baskets

Image
I love these little baskets. It is my favorite way to carry essential oils around the house safely. This is they way I carry oils to my son's room when I do night time oils with him.  Want to crochet too? Check out my Create and Craft tab or click  here.

The Portable Sewing Classroom

Image
This is my van before I leave to teach sewing. There are 2 sewing machines, 20 binders, fabric, 2 cutting boards, my large tote bag with my teacher things, and a giant rolling tool box. I travel once a a week to teach sewing at my son's home school group. That giant rolling toolbox has sewing supplies like scissors, pins, tape measures etc. as well as handouts. I bring it back and forth every week. Hopefully most of the rest of the items will be stored at the facility. Every week we put up and tear down a complete sewing classroom for 5 students at a time including 5 machines, ironing boards, and cutting boards. By the end of the 8 hours of class I will have 29 students, boys and girls, junior high and high school ages come through my classroom.   This one day each week is such a blessing to me! I love teaching a skill to my students, but even more is the spark of creativity that grows through the year. These creative kids do amazing things!

Essential Oil Make and Take Roller-Ball Class

Image
Here are a few pictures of my class set-up. I bought glass roller ball bottles at Amazon . I like the ones with the metal ball. I put the lids and rollers in a crystal dish 'cause its pretty. The little green drawstring bags are to put the rollers in when they are finished. The ladies chose a gift bag color and put all the finished items and the recipe cards in to take home.  The crocheted bag contains the oils for the class (another blog on these bags later!). I color coordinated the recipe and bottles.   Pink - pain blend, Blue/Purple - Relax, and Green - Focus We also made a fall scented room spray in the brown spray bottles.  My recipe cards are printed on index card paper Avery 8387. Aren't these pretty? I love sparkle and color! The labels are clear printable Avery 18695. I put them on ahead of time while the bottles and my hands were oil free.  This is my first periscope (scary) about the class.  A few minutes ...

Take Me Home Country Roads

Image
My son and I sneaked away for a few days to visit my family at their cattle ranch.  When we pull in the guard bull is on duty. This little calf is named Spanky.  He was so tiny when born he was the size of a dog.  He has been hand fed and raised and follows around my brother-in-law like a puppy. Don't let your guard down though, he will butt strangers and beller!  I was weeding under a rose bush when that ornery calf decided to let his presence be known. I'm glad I knew he was there or I would still be untangling myself from the climbing rose. A full day of sanding a go-cart makes for a dirty happy boy.  Then we put him to work stripping wallpaper.  This house was built in the 40's. The oldest layer of wallpaper is corn! It looks like rows and rows of corn on the cob. I wonder what the colors were like originally. Now it is dark brown with turquoise  highlights. He gets some free time to d...

Simple Does Not Mean Easy

Image
It has been over two months since we went from healthy eaters to that fanatical family.  My son had a bad reaction to the one medication that had really helped with his pain. We had to stop it cold and the pain came rushing in.  As usually happens, desperation helped us make a decision we had been putting off. For us it was the gluten/grain free diet. So in one weekend we dropped all sugar, and most grains including corn.  The one we kept was rice. I know. You're thinking why? Well, it is one of the only foods my son had complete tolerance for.  I told him I would do it with him. It was only fair. I used to be such a slave to bread. We have been cutting it back for years so it was pretty painless to just cut the cord. Sort of. Not everyone in our house was willing to keep the diet with us. So meal times could be more stressful. It seemed to reinforce the few foods he couldn't have instead of the all the great choices he could have....
